SIM Swap Fraud: Warning Signs and How to Protect Your Accounts

YOUR PHONE STOPPED WORKING? You might be a victim of SIM SWAP FRAUD.

Fraudsters transfer your phone number to a new SIM card, giving them access to your banking apps, social media, and emails.

WARNING SIGNS:

  • Sudden loss of mobile signal (no outages reported)
  • Not receiving calls or SMS
  • Unexpected OTPs you did not request
  • Suspicious login alerts from your accounts

ACT FAST: Contact your mobile operator immediately and ask them to freeze your number. Then contact your bank and change your passwords from a secure device.

Prevention is better than cure. Enable two-factor authentication using an authenticator app — not SMS.
