Fraud Alert: Subscription Fraud — Contracts You Never Signed, Debt You Did Not Create

FRAUD ALERT: Subscription Fraud

Fraudsters are using stolen or fake information to open mobile accounts and get devices in YOUR name. This leaves you with unpaid accounts and damaged credit.

How it works: Fraudsters use fake or stolen identity documents to sign mobile contracts. The victim often only discovers the fraud when they receive bills, debt notices, or collection calls for accounts they never opened.

How to protect yourself:

  • Regularly check your credit report for unexpected accounts
  • Monitor your mobile service for unusual changes
  • Set up alerts with your bank and mobile provider
  • If you suspect fraud, contact your network provider about contracts in your name
  • If something looks suspicious, contact your mobile provider IMMEDIATELY.
